Obamathon 2008

I have voted in every election I've been eligible to vote in. So it's always baffling to me when people say "I'm voting this time because it's IMPORTANT." Every election is important! Every election has been important. These issues however are a whole other blog.

I went to Harbor Park Tuesday with 22,000 other "socialists". I'll admit I passed a large portion of the line to find my friends at the front (sorry Norfolk's finest). I walked 2 or 3 miles to avoid traffic (no different from the Y except wearing much cooler clothes) and stood for 5 hours with my friends to see Barack Obama speak for 45 minutes. Was it worth it - totally. Was it important..yes. Was it historic..only if you make it that way.

Am I wearing my Obama t-shirt to the polls next week? Yes, but only under my work shirt. :)

A woman I work with just lobbed a politically charged hand-grenade at my friend/co-worker and myself. This is after some light banter on the impending election, wherein my friend politely voiced her support for Barry O.

She expressed her "sincere" fear of a Barack Obama presidency because his wife is a "racist and a separatist".

First, just don't. Just don't do it. Because I will start ripping down some cubicles.

Second, ha ha! Because New Jersey always goes Democrat and her vote won't count anyway.

My Obama Hope Pin (about the size of a dime) has served as my shining symbol of support, but at times it's been the world's smallest/largest bullseye.

I have been called a "socialist", a "sickle carrying red" (where is my WTF stamp), and my favorite "the reason why we are in a recession".

To that I say really? REALLY???? My party has not been in control for 8 years and I AM THE REASON for the recession??

I'm with you G (just don't..). I'll be out in the rain at 5 a.m. tomorrow.
